The Long Island Children's Museum is a "hands on" environment where children and their families can explore interactive exhibits and programs. Designed for kids 2 to 12, LICM offers visitors the opportunity to learn by doing.

The museum is a wonderful pictorial retrospective of Long Island state parks and parkways, their origins, development and renowned success during the first half of the century.

East Rockaway Grist Mill Museum

Over 300 years old, the Grist Mill has two floors filled with historical artifacts, an old fire pump engine, Indian exhibits & period costumes. A Town of Hempstead landmark.

Franklin Square Historical Society

This museum houses artifacts including an original arrowhead dating back before 1650. Featuring farm tools, printing press, old Franklin National Bank counter and murals as well as pictorial history of the community.

Freeport Historical Museum

Est. 1961, this historical building (portion circa 1867) houses artifacts special to Freeport’s uniqueness, including Vaudeville era artifacts, waterfront memorabilia and period fashions. Also includes genealogical room on Freeport homes and families

Malverne Historical Society

The museum contains local memorabilia with each room having its own theme. An outstanding feature is the chimney with its dedicated bricks honoring former and present Malverne families. Look for the photo display of the stores and their proprietors circa 1954.

The museum displays the proud history of volunteer firefighting in Nassau County with a collection of historic and contemporary firematic memorabilia and equipment. The center will be used to educate the public about fire safety and prevention.

The museum houses a collection of memorabilia from the 40s and 50s. Photographs, furnishings and appliances from original Levitt homes. A walk through this simulated Levitt residence offers an engaging glimpse of Levittown's history.

An authentic Victorian home, circa 1870. Houses a collection of kitchen & carpentry tools, examples of period furniture and original Victorian clothing worn in the 19th century.

Pagan-Fletcher Restoration

A splendid example of a restored Victorian home owned by Robert Pagan, a farmer from Scotland. Listed on the National Register of Historical Places and operated by the Valley Stream Historical Society. Oldest gas station in Nassau County on property.

Rock Hall (Town Of Hempstead Museum)

Rising majestically from the modern landscape in Lawrence is Hempstead Town's tribute to our colonial heritage. This 1767 landmark was once the home of the Martin and Hewlett families. The museum is a fine example of Georgian architecture with period furnishings. An exhibit area displays a featured exhibition each year. An educational program is available to school groups.

Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center

Toll Lodge Mini-Museum

Housed in Toll Lodge with the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, the mini museum has memorabilia and pictorial accounts of the era when William K. Vanderbilt staged auto races and built the world’s first parkway, a 48-mile toll road linking Queens & Ronkonkoma.

Hofstra Arboretum

Beginning in May, walking tours will be given by appointment to individuals and groups. Hofstra University campus has been officially designated a National Arboretum. The Arboretum features over 12,000 trees representing almost 625 different species and varieties. Bird sanctuary (2-acre site) open on request. Call for further information.

A museum of natural history, Tackapausha Museum directs its attention to the living things in our environment, featuring the animals and plants of Long Island. The 80 acre preserve with streams, ponds and 5 miles of hiking trails is a wildlife sanctuary devoted to nature, recreation and education.
